Phil has been out with the SFL team again in spring 2022 with the UK Premiere tour of "Toy Story In Concert" for Disney / Pixar, promoted in the UK by Senbla Live Events.
Phil provided a sound spec & design for the tour which featured a DiGiCo SD12-96 Mixing Console, Waves Plug-Ins and movie audio i/o powered by DiGiGrid, DPA Microphones across the whole orchestra and a D&B Audiotechnik Y-Series PA with V-Subs. Projection was handled by a pair of SFL's new Barco UDM laser projectors which meant the film really popped on SFL's custom 10m screen surfaces.
The UK tour has been a hit with four year olds and critics alike across a number of UK dates from February to April.
In his role as Technical Director & Senior Mix Engineer at Sonosphere, Phil has been charged with designing and delivering some amazing projects in Dolby Atmos.
One of the recent projects Sonosphere have undertaken was for Tommy who were engaged to deliver the album launch event for Ed Sheeran's "=" album at Protein Studios in Shoreditch.
Phil took the stems from the album tracks and, in our Dolby Atmos studio at Metropolis, ‘exploded’ the studio (nearfield mix) into a beautiful, enveloping immersive mix for the playback system at the venue - complete with a soundscape of buzzing bees and tweeting birds, moving around the room.
Attendees at the event walked through a meadow full of real wild flowers, while they interacted with gorgeous butterfly projections and were immersed in the album tracks through a d&b audiotechnik system supplied by SFL.

Phil has recently worked with the UK Drum & Bass Act Koven, on their single "Say What You Want" which he re-mixed & mastered in Dolby Atmos in Sonosphere's high-end immersive studio at Metropolis, London. The single is now available on Amazon Music.

As part of his partnership with DPA Microphones and leading supplier SFL Group, phil has recently undertaken the world premiere tour of "Joker In Concert" featuring the Oscar winning score of Hildur Guðnadóttir. In order to deliver this concert version to the highest possible quality, Phil opted to use entirely DPA microphones for the shows. DPA caught up with Phil on tour to discuss this paradigm shift for live sound reinforcement.
